Elkhart Urban chickens are gaining popularity in Elkhart County, or at least, the idea of having them.

After Goshen allowed a pilot program for chickens in city limits., an Elkhart City councilman is bringing up the issue.

Brian Dickerson says he's received numerous calls from people in Elkhart who are interested in raising chickens, according to our reporting partners at the Elkhart Truth.

Right now, chickens --and any other farm animals-- are prohibited.

Dickerson hasn't submitted a proposal yet, but says he's studying Goshen's model to come up with a plan.
