Elkhart Community comes together to support man recovering from motorcycle accident

The Elkhart Community is rallying behind a 24-year-old recovering from a motorcycle accident.

Eric Rush suffered multiple injuries after a September crash. He remained conscious during the accident, seeing one of his bones actually protrude through his skin.

He has needed two surgeries since then, and so, the community gathered Saturday to help offset mounting medical bills.

“I thought my leg was destroyed, just on how it was, how it looked,” explains motorcycle accident victim Eric Rush. “I mean I was laying on the pavement, one leg was propped up, and the other leg was wrapped around it. Thankfully I am still here. It means a lot that everybody can show support in a time of need for somebody.”

Rush's medical bills total more than $140,000. The benefit continues tonight until 8 p.m. at the Elkhart Eagles on Marion Street.
