Elkhart City bomb unit responds to suspicious package

On Tuesday, the Elkhart City Bomb Squad responded to a suspicious package on Adams Street in Elkhart.

Police were called to the scene after an employee at a business in the 25000 block of Woodlawn Avenue reported a suspicious package.

On site, officers located an item wrapped in clear nylon packaging tape with a fuse attached. The closest building to the item was vacant.

The Elkhart City Bomb Unit will destroy the suspicious item. If anybody has information regarding the incident, they are asked to contact the Elkhart Sheriff's Department at (574) 333-4150.
