SOUTH BEND, Ind.--- The Eddy Street Commons complex has apparently received a warning letter under South Bend's chronic nuisance ordinance.
Such warning letters go out whenever an entity receives at least three calls for police or other select city services in a 60 day period.
In the Eddy Street Commons case some are puzzled by the fact that one of the calls apparently involved a fight at a bar, while the other involved noise complaints at a housing complex.
Councilman Derek Dieter and others are concerned that the bar and the apartment complex were apparently lumped together in counting the calls.
“The way that it was originally constructed is a specific entity, a business as opposed to an area, would be cited so that's what we're trying to get a better understanding of how a certain section of town would could be labeled as a chronic nuisance,” said Dieter
The council’s Health and Public Safety Committee plans to look into the matter at a meeting next Tuesday.
