Dietitian helps grocery shoppers one-on-one

SOUTH BEND A new consumer-driven partnership is offering grocery shoppers in Michiana the chance to learn more about how to make healthy choices.

Martin's Super Markets and Beacon Health System have joined forces to launch "Eat Smart, Be Well," a healthy living initiative at all Martin's locations. The initiative is meant to give consumers' more resources in the store.

Maria Haisley, is a registered dietitian, and was recently appointed as the Wellness Coordinator for the program.

"Our goal is just to have our shoppers feel more confident in the food choices they're making," said Haisley. "Sometimes cost is a barrier and that's what I want to help break down, that it doesn't have to be a barrier."

Interested shoppers can schedule 30 minute wellness consultations with Haisley for $30. Currently, anyone who signs up will get a $30 Martin's gift card after the meeting. The program also includes store tours and wellness workshops.
