Drug bust takes place at same scene of a 2012 violent home invasion

A narcotics investigation culminated in a drug bust Monday morning, but the scene of the bust was a familiar one for law-enforcement officials who addressed a violent home invasion at the residence just last year.

At around 10:00 a.m. Monday morning, the St. Joseph County SWAT team searched a house in the 53,000 block of Hickory Rd. in Clay Twp. The issuance of the warrant was the latest step in a multi-agency narcotic investigation, and resulted in the arrest of the 25-year-old woman and 29-year-old man living in the home.

Investigators say the found meth, marijuana and firearm ammunition during their search. The names of the two people taken into custody will not be released until formal charges are filed.

Back in July 2012, three men posing as utility workers entered into this same home on Hickory Rd, robbed and beat the homeowners before fatally shooting their pitbull.
