Driver hits two kids on bike in a hit-and-run

Elkhart, Ind. Two Elkhart children barely escaped injury Saturday when a driver plowed into their bicycle, and then fled the scene.

It all unfolded around 5:30 Saturday evening at the intersection of Lusher Avenue and Prairie Street, on the city's south side.

According to our reporting partners at the Elkhart Truth, one of the kids was steering and pedaling while the other was sitting on the handlebars.

They were trying to cross Lusher, when a black car heading west hit the bike's front tire, and kept on going. Witnesses told officers that the driver was speeding, and ran a red light just before the crash occurred.

Thankfully, neither of the young boys was seriously hurt.
