"Drive Sober or get Pulled Over, "that's the message behind a major crackdown that's coming up threatening drunk drivers. It starts Friday and involves officers from both St. Joseph County and Elkhart County.
The crackdown is a 16 day effort to keep a look out for impaired and dangerous driving. The effort will continue through March 24 and includes March Madness activities and the St. Patrick's Day holiday.
“We want people to be able to go out and celebrate the holiday festivities and watch their favorite basketball team in a positive way, we don't want it to end in tragic way, like we've seen in St. Joseph County,” says St. Joseph County Traffic Safety Partnership Lt. Tim Williams.
Last year, during the same time frame, more than 90 citations were issued to drivers caught driving drunk in St. Joseph County.
