Dowagiac Police make two weekend meth arrests

Officials in Dowagiac arrested two people for possession of methamphetamine this weekend.

The first arrest was made Friday when Dowagiac Police located William Leroy Holcomb, 25, of Kokomo, at the Family Fare Quick Stop. Holcomb, who also had an outstanding larceny warrant, was found with multiple bags of meth at the local gas station.

The Cass County Prosecutor’s Office charged Holcomb with possession of methamphetamine. He was booked at the Cass County Jail on a $10,000 cash or surety bond. Holcomb was also handed a $1,000 cash only bond for the outstanding warrant.

Just after 8 p.m. Saturday, police arrested a woman in Dowagiac after finding her with a bag of meth in a residential neighborhood in the northern part of the city.

Tom Atkinson, Director of Public Safety, said his officers were investigating a suspected meth-related crime and found the woman walking with a man along Sheldon St., near King St.

As an officer approached the pair, the woman appeared to turn quickly in order to avoid the officer. When police searched her, they found a bag of suspected powder meth.

While her companion was released after being questioned, the woman was arrested and transported to the Cass County Jail for possession of methamphetamine. Her name is being withheld pending arraignment.
