The DoubleTree in Downtown South Bend held their grand re-opening Tuesday. Renovations are finished at the landmark hotel.
Mayor Pete Buttigieg and representatives of The Hotel Group cut the ribbon to celebrate. The building now has a Starbucks, a restaurant, an open atrium and, of course, newly remodeled rooms.
"Really more than anything it shows in our company the hotel group has really vested into this market and has a lot of faith in which the direction the city is going,” explains Leonard Clifton the general manager of the DoubleTree Hotel in South Bend. “So, the new developments Downtown, with the East River Project and everything, we're really excited to have an uptick in the market right now."
Renovations took a little less than 18 months.
