A well-known presidential historian and Pulitzer Prize-winning author says the partisan politics in Washington are not the worst our country has seen.
Doris Kearns Goodwin spoke at the Foundation of Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center President's Brunch Sunday afternoon.
She is most well known for her book Team of Rivals, which inspired the 2012 movie Lincoln.
Goodwin says while the current dysfunction in Washington is frustrating, it is not nearly as bad as in the 1850s.
Goodwin is also an expert on Teddy Roosevelt.
She says there is much more partisanship today than there was during his time.
The brunch serves as a large fundraiser for St. Joe Regional Medical Center.
It is the third year for the fundraiser.
