Diaco and Manti know the challenge of Alabama's offense

The Irish go into the BCS National Championship game with a defense that has been ranked among the best in the nation from game one through game twelve of the season. The team has an impressive lineup led by the number one assistant coach in the country, as well as the most decorated player in the country.

Bob Diaco, the Irish’s defensive coordinator claimed the Frank
Broyles Award given to the nation’s top assistant coach this year. Plus, inside linebacker Manti Te’o finished the season as the most decorated player in the history of college football.

Both Diaco and Te’o know the challenge the Alabama offense presents in Monday’s game.

“They’re the finest collection tackle to tackle,” said Diaco, “and we’ve faced some tough offensive lines, we’ve faced some very talented players.”

Te’o isn’t taking the Monday’s matchup lightly, in a press conference he noted that the Crimson Tide are a very physical team, “Just watching them on film, those guys they’re not out there to just shield you. They’re out there to drive you back and try to make the biggest hole they can make.”
