Niles Apple Festival returns despite lack of city funds

If cool weather puts you in the mood for apples and warm apple cider, you are in luck. That's because the Niles 41st Four Flags Area Apple Festival is in full swing

The festival is filled with tons of apple inspired foods and a lot of pastries. They say pastries get delivered every three hours because they go so fast.

There are carnival rides, numerous contests and arts and crafts. It’s a great way to bring the community together and it’s thanks to the community that this festival even happens.

“The city decided not to fund us because it just wasn’t in their budget. There are several festivals in Niles that they were funding and they just really couldn't afford it this year, but the Apple Festival is so big that our budget was able to absorb most of it but we also have a lot of area sponsors,” says Board of Directors Member Pat Teeter.

The festival runs until Sunday. There is parking for a five dollar parking donation and wristbands for the carnival rides cost $25 each.
