The Van Buren County Sheriff’s Department is looking for a man who led them on an off-road police chance in Hartford Township Saturday afternoon.
Sheriff Dale Gribler reported that his deputies attempted to pull over a car on 61st Ave. just east of 62nd St. for a traffic violation when the driver took off.
The man, driving a dark green Honda Civic, sped off the roadway and began driving through the backyards of several homes located along 61st Ave. A homeowner stacking wood was almost struck as the suspect made his way back onto the eastbound street with the deputies still in pursuit.
Despite the slick road conditions the man hit the gas pedal and ran through several stop signs, leaving deputies behind and ending the chase.
Officials describe the suspect as a bald, while male in his late twenties or early thirties. Anyone with information is encouraged to call the Van Buren County Sheriff’s office at 269-657-3101, or Crime Stoppers.
