NILES Demolition is underway at a former American Legion building in Niles, to make room for a new Salvation Army.

The organization plans to build a 10,000 square foot facility at the corner of S 17th and Miller.

Before construction can begin, they need to raise $630,000. The Niles Daily Star reports that they've raised about $200,000 so far. The total project will cost $1 million.

The Salvation Army is currently located in a church on N 15th Street. They have to rent other spaces for many activities.
