Freshman Demetrius Jackson will rejoin the Irish on Monday and travel with the basketball team to Miami for their next game on Wednesday, Irish coach Mike Brey told Jack Nolan on the ND basketball radio broadcast.
Jackson did not travel with the team to Boston for its 73-69 win over Boston College Sunday night. He stayed back in South Bend to focus on academics. Jackson has been away from the program for five days because coach Brey wanted Jackson to improve his "academic habits."
In total, Jackson will have missed a total of two games.
The Marian alum's absence at Tuesday's game against Clemson resulted in a social media storm during the contest before Brey was able to explain the situation. Speculation ran rampant that Jackson was considering a transfer. But Jackson's guardian David Whitfield told me on Tuesday that Demetrius was not transferring and was looking forward to improving his studies and rejoining the team.
Now after five days and two Irish wins, Jackson is returning and all appears just fine again.
