With the unseasonably warm weather recently, now is a great time to put up your Christmas decorations. At Heaven and Earth floral shop in South Bend, they have some recommendations on how to keep your poinsettias and fresh wreaths looking good for even longer.

Owner Cathy Catanzarite says wreaths are used to the cold, dry temperatures, and actually like snow. So it is important to spray them with water every day when it is warm and rainy out like it has been this week.

Plus, remember to water your poinsettia every other day from the time you buy it. The most common mistake is to forget about them during the Christmas rush.

“It needs attention and it’s a busy time of year people tend forget about. while you are watering a poinsettia. It takes a little more water than the average house plant. You really have to keep your eye on it. Like your Christmas tree, you need to check it daily,
“ said Catanzarite.

If you do have poinsettias displayed around your house, make sure to keep them away from your pets. They have a small amount of sap that is dangerous, yet attracts dogs and especially cats.
