BENTON HARBOR A crumbling building is now off the street, and soon, it will be replaced with retail stores and apartments.

On Sunday, a pile of debris covered a lot in the 200 block of W Main Street in Benton Harbor. According to The Herald Palladium, the building had collapsed on to the sidewalk, so the new owners decided it was time to demolish it and remove the wreckage. An empty lot now sits in its place.

Eventually, the owners hope to renovate the entire block, creating retail space at ground level and apartments on the second floor. There are no immediate plans for when that work might take place.
