Flu season has hit the nation hard, and the number of deaths in the state of Indiana continues to rise.
40 people have now died because of flu-related illness. Of those 40, 38 people had other medical conditions such as heart disease or diabetes, and many occurred in people over 65.
State health officials are encouraging Hoosiers to get vaccinated.
