It’s the unofficial end of summer, marking the last swim day for most pools and many beaches on Lake Michigan.
But today was not ideal for the beach, as high waves created potentially dangerous conditions. The National Weather Service has declared a beach hazard for the area until Tuesday night.
They have predicted winds of up to 25 mph and waves up to 7 ft. high.
There are also strong rip currents that can form along piers and break walls.
