DTSB's First Friday to feature live music, good food, and more

Downtown South Bend will “come alive with the sound of music” to
celebrate August’s First Friday: ‘The Musical’ this Friday, August 1st from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

Come downtown to enjoy great food, shopping, and entertainment while our downtown businesses celebrate all that is musical.

Free entertainment and activities can be found throughout DTSB within the 65 participating businesses. Free Transpo trolley rides will be available from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. during the event.

Below is the list of First Friday activities and live music locations.

First Friday Activities:

Century Center (120 S. Saint Joseph St.) Meet Me on the Island featuring art and live music by the Elwood Splinters Blues Band.

Chicory Cafe (105 E. Jefferson Blvd.) Live funk and groovy jazz from the band Good Question.

Dancehipology (121 E. Niles Ave.) Come boogie at the dance party. $5.00 cover.

Downtown South Bend - Musicians wandering downtown playing in different shops and restaurants.

The Gridiron (111 S. Saint Joseph St.) The Music Village hosts live music.

HealthWorks! Kids’ Museum (111 W. Jefferson Blvd.) Buy one admission, get one free on First Fridays.

Tie-dye is available for $1 per person, bring a shirt or purchase one at HealthWorks!

Hill and Colfax Block Party (123 N. Hill St.) The shops host a block party with live music by the Anival

Fausto Band, a performance by the Children’s Center for Performing Arts, food and more.

Indiana Rug Co.: A Textile Boutique (214 S. Michigan St.) “Bangle Bash” and costume jewelry party.

There will also be tutus, costume jewelry and Frozen themed capes available to purchase.

Just Goods (714 E. Jefferson Blvd) Featuring a local artist and sample goods from fair trade partners.

Marigold’s (722 E. Jefferson Blvd.) This Friday is Marigold’s last day the shop is open. There will be a going-out-of-business sale and a Bon Voyage Party at the store.

McCormick’s Coney Island (125 N. Michigan St.) “First Fryday” show with DJ Chuck Fry, Moveable Types, and Anival Fausto Band. The smoke-free show is $5 at the door and starts at 10:30 p.m.

On The River (Colfax Ave. and St. Joe River) Teen Night with fireworks to follow. 5 p.m. - 11 p.m.

The Pigeon & The Hen Pottery (217 S. Michigan St.) Paint your own Elsa, Ana, or Olaf Frozen character magnets.

South Bend Civic Theater (403 N. Main St.) Showing of The Producers. 7:30 p.m., tickets can be bought online or in person.

Studio 217 (217 S. Michigan St.) Performance of “I Love Men” by Diane Arnstein at 7:30 p.m.

State Theater (214 S. Michigan St.) The Cabaret Kids will be performing at 5:30 pm. Flint’s Dance Studio will be performing underneath the marquee at 6:30 p.m.
