Police discovered about a dozen people trying to do some late-night shopping Thursday at a grocery store in Goshen that was actually closed.
Officers were called to the Kroger supermarket in the 200 block of Chicago Ave. around 10:45 p.m.
The store appeared open, but there were no employees inside. Instead, police found some pretty confused customers in the checkout lines attempting to pay for their groceries.
Police said there were no signs of forced entry and blame the incident on a "locking mechanism" on the door that hadn't completely engaged. A manager arrived on scene and secured all entrances until the business reopened the next morning.
