Five children escaped a house fire Saturday morning in Goshen.

The blaze happened in the 300 block of S. Seventh Street around 7:45 a.m., according to our news partners at the Elkhart Truth.

The home has extensive damage. Goshen Fire Department Battalion Chief Scott McDowell told the Elkhart Truth the fire was through the roof of the house. The fire appeared to be concentrated in the attic and second floor of the house.

Homeowner Jacynda Guevara said everyone who was in the house got out safely, including five children. Guevara told the Truth she was at work when the fire broke out. She said she lives at the house with her four children, a roommate and the roommate's child.

Firefighters also rescued a guinea pig.
