Knox, Ind. Eight fire departments responded to a large fire at the corner of Toto Road and U.S. 35 Thursday evening.

The building was fully engulfed when firefighters arrived at around 6:30 p.m. A plume of smoke could be seen for miles.

According to our reporting partners at WKVI, the property houses a scrap yard, C & C Salvage, and some office buildings, which were severely damaged. The state fire marshal is expected at the scene Friday to investigate.

A firefighter was treated at the scene, but it is unclear if he was hurt by the fire.

Some Knox residents reported seeing rusty water come from their faucets, apparently because of all the water that was being used to fight the blaze.

The city's water superintendent says folks can run their water to get rid of the color. Crews were finally able to clear the scene around 11 p.m. Eastern.
