Court date set for man accused of fatally shooting two people

A man accused of fatally shooting two people in South Bend last August spent the morning in court for a hearing on his case.

Brandon Biffle, 29, faces nine felony charges, including murder, attempted murder and criminal recklessness.

Police say Biffle shot and killed 53-year-old Johnnie Avance and 55-year-old Donald Paris Senior in the 1600 block of North Olive St. He is also accused of opening fire on four police officers, and shooting at passing cars.

Thursday in court, a judge confirmed his March 11 trial date.
