"What occurred Monday was the worst Council meeting I have been associated with," writes South Bend Common Councilman Derek Dieter.
So bad, in fact, that Dieter filed a complaint Tuesday against Henry Davis Sr., the father of Councilman Henry Davis Jr.
"During this meeting, Council Member Henry Davis Jr. made a public comment about me committing an act of domestic battery and added he could find five people to assault my wife," Dieter explains. He goes on to paraphrase: "'Derek Dieter beats his wife, and I get 5 people out there to do it, and now I got to have an investigation.'"
"To suggest domestic violence against a female, and spouse, is horrific, and to add you will find people to do so is unconscionable," Dieter explains.
Dieter says this exchange started a chain of events, which led to Henry Davis Sr. rushing up to the area where the council sits.
It’s alleged that Davis Sr. used one of his fingers as part of a hand gesture directed Dieter’s way.
Dieter ended his letter by saying that, in addition to the police report on Henry Davis Sr., he will be making a "complaint to the Council Rules Committee for the words of Henry Davis Jr."
