A man sent to prison for the same four murders as escapee Michael Elliot says Elliot did not commit the crime.
Elliot got away from the Ionia Correctional Facility earlier this month. The 40 year-old hijacked a woman and took off for Indiana.
He spent 24 hours on the lam, before police caught him in Laporte County.
Now, Charles Treece tells the NBC station in Grand Rapids that Elliot was not involved in the 1993 murders. Treece says he was the one who pulled the trigger, while Elliot was at home.
He also added that Elliot was only found guilty because the other co-defendants used him as a scapegoat.
