A Niles man will spend a minimum of 25 years in prison for molesting a 6-year-old girl.
In February, James Parish was convicted of the crime, committed in 2007 and 2008.
The victim was his step-daughter. He would tell the young child he wanted to snuggle, and then assault her. The young victim told her mother about the abuse a few years later.
Last week, Parish was sentenced in Cass County Circuit Court to two terms of 25-50 years in prison for two counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct and two terms of 71 months to 15 years for two counts of second-degree criminal sexual conduct. All four prison terms are concurrent.
According to TEXT, Parish did not speak during his sentencing hearing, but he signed paperwork to appeal the conviction and the sentences.
