The condition of a Michigan teen with Elkhart ties is steadily improving, a week after he was hurt in a crash.

Connor Watson has been upgraded to good condition at a Kalamazoo Hospital.

Last Sunday, he lost control of his kart while racing on the Mottville Speedway in St. Joseph County, Michigan and suffered bleeding in his brain

His dad says he thinks Connor may have accidentally hit the gas instead of the brake as he went into a curve.

Watson is originally from Middlebury, but now lives in White Pigeon.

The Mottville Speedway has decided to hold a race to raise money for Connor on Monday, May 26.
