A Michigan House committee has passed bills that lower the amount of alcohol a person can drink and still legally drive a boat, snowmobile, or any other off-road vehicle.
The Criminal Justice Committee approved legislation lowering the maximum blood alcohol content from .1 to .08. That's the same as the legal limit for car drivers.
The legislation stems from a 2005 incident, when a boater with a B.A.C. between .08 and .1 killed a 7-year-old child on an inner tube.
