Commissioner faces new lawsuit for profiting of Chinese business deal

New accusations have been made against an embattled Elkhart County Commissioner, Terry Rodino, claiming he used his position of authority to profit off of a Chinese business deal.

Rodino’s former business partners filed the suit—the same partners that accused him of sexually assaulting a woman in 2012. While the case of the alleged sexual assault was dropped due to insufficient evidence to prove an actual assault occurred, this newest case is still building.

The latest lawsuit contends Rodino used his position as county commissioner to sell five R.V.s to a Chinese-owned business. Prosecutors claim Rodino made at least $100,000 as a result of the sale, and in doing so he violated the federal Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act (RICO).
