Applying for financial aid can be challenging for college-bound students. That's why organizers hold The College Goal Sunday every year.
Financial aid counselors from area colleges, held a free session Sunday at Ivy Tech, hoping to help students and their parents understand the Free Application for Student aid or FAFSA. The form is required for students looking for some federal aid or to take out loans.
Though the online application has become easier to navigate in recent years, organizers say many people who are filling it out for the first time still have questions.
“As people are looking for higher education opportunities they know that one of things they have to take care of is applying for financial aid so the extent that we can help get that done and submitted and on time is a great help for them,” says Financial Administrator at Notre Dame James Malloy.
The deadline for filing the FAFSA in Indiana is March 10.
