City of St. Joseph receives multiple reports of theft from vehicles

From a St. Joseph Public Safety Department media release:

On Saturday, June 28, the St. Joseph Department of Public Safety received multiple reports of items stolen from vehicles. The thefts occurred over a wide range of area and involved unlocked vehicles.

Most of the items stolen include GPS devices, cell phones, cell phone chargers, earphones and loose change. In one case, a ring described as having a one karat diamond valued at over $8,000 was taken.

The St. Joseph Department of Public Safety would like to remind everyone to keep their cars and garages secured.

Keep your car locked, even when it is in the garage. Personal items should not be visible in your car. Loose change and any small items of value should be removed from the vehicle. If you have outdoor lights, leave them on.

Please be vigilant and report suspicious persons and criminal events to the St Joseph Department of Public Safety at 983-2571.

Anonymous tips can be left on a recording at 985-0301. If there is an emergency please call 911.
