The public can get a look inside South Bend's newest fire station.
Mayor Pete Buttigieg, Councilman Oliver Davis, Fire Chief Steve Cox and crew members will officially dedicate and open fire station 5 on Monday morning.
The 3500-square foot building is more than twice the size of the former station that was built on the same site in 1954.
It features two-stories and a full basement for equipment as well as a weight room for firefighters.
The dedication and tours will run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The community is invited to attend. The station is located at 2221 Prairie Avenue in South Bend.
The station 5 crew has been serving at Central Fire for the past six months during construction.
