The mayor is retiring after 16 years of public life. Bob Judd was first elected to the commission in 1997 and was elected mayor in 2007. According to our partners at The Herald Palladium, he attended his last board meeting this week. At 72 years old, Judd says it’s time to focus on his family.
A free recycling event is going on through Saturday. According to our partners at WSJM, you can drop off electronic devices and have them properly disposed of, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. They will also ensure all personal data is destroyed. It's happening at the Community Thrift Shop of Paw Paw, that's located along Red Arrow Highway.
Live reindeer will visit the Elkhart County Parks "Holiday at the Mill" at Bonneyville Mill next Saturday, Nov. 9. According to our partners at The Elkhart Truth, the event runs from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. but the reindeer will only be there from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. They'll also be grinding cornmeal and making cookies with the mill's whole wheat flower. Plus kids can make Christmas ornaments and pose for a picture with Santa and the reindeer. The event is free.
County officials want to make the government more interactive. According to Pilot News, they're calling Wednesday “Beacon Day,” encouraging the public to learn about the latest online resources available. Presentations will be held at 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. in room 203 of the Marshall County Building.
Wednesday is the final flea market of the season from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Hundreds of vendors sell everything from plants to furniture to tools and much more. It's located at 345 South Van Buren Street.
Wednesday is the last opportunity for the Farmers Market. You’ll find organically grown produce, plus an assortment of plants and crafts. It is open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Sandy Acres Park.
You can get free mulch this weekend. It is available on Saturday, Nov. 2, from 8 a.m. to noon at West Center St., just inside Boggs Industrial Park. You can bring trailers, dump trucks, pickups or small containers to get the mulch. Other pick-up dates will be November 9 and 16.
