City By City Report for July 8, 2014

Here's a recap of our City By City report from Tuesday July 8, 2014:

The Lake City Skiers water ski show returns Tuesday night on Hidden Lake. They are a competitive team from Warsaw and perform every Sunday and Tuesday throughout the summer, except when they have competitions. These shows are free to the public. Each year they use a different theme, music and costumes. Tuesday night’s performance starts at 6:30 p.m. Click here for a link.

Winamac will be the site of a town-wide garage sale on Saturday July 19 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.; anyone who wants to join the sale should register for a spot. According to our reporting partners at WKVI they can be reserved for $10 dollars and will be organized into a map for customers. You can register at the Pulaski County chamber of commerce office in Winamac. The deadline for sign-up is Friday.

South Bend

Notre Dame has announced that single game tickets for the 2014 football season go on sale online this Thursday night beginning at 6 p.m. eastern. If you'd rather buy them in person or over the phone you can do so starting the next day, Friday, July 11 at 8:30 a.m. eastern. Notre Dame's first home game is against Rice on August 30.

We have an update on a new restaurant coming to South Bend. You may recall Kate Chappell’s special report on Bar Bici back in January. The owners say they expect to open on August 18th. The restaurant is located at Eddy Street Commons. They just put up the exterior signs last week. Bar Bici is described as Italian street food, fast and casual. It was started by the owners of the Hacienda Mexican Restaurant chain.
Tuesday night kicks off “MOVE LIVE on Tour" at the Morris Performing Arts Center and tickets are still available. The all-new stage show features Julianne and Derek Hough, who appeared on "Dancing with the Stars" along with the "MOVE" company dancers. They call it a mix between a Broadway musical and a dance party.

Berrien County

Non-profit organizations in Berrien County can apply to receive funding. According to our reporting partners at the Herald Palladium, the Berrien County Community Foundation is accepting applications until August 27. Organizations can get up to $10,000. Each grant has a specific theme, like building a spirit of community or supporting education.

A local dance team is headed to nationals. All of the members of Concord's team qualified for the big competition for the first time in at least five years. According to our reporting partners at the Elkhart Truth, they raised $20,000 for their trip to Orlando. The team left Sunday and competes Wednesday.

Elkhart Mayor Dick Moore will officially announce an upcoming workshop Tuesday, aimed at improving black and Hispanic students' academic achievement. The event will be held on July 12 at St. James AME Church on Dr. Martin Luther King Drive in Elkhart. The public is invited and they're asking for a $10 donation to get in.
