Here's a recap of our City By City report from Monday, February 24, 2014:
You can soon hear everything said at South Bend council meetings without leaving home. Michiana Access TV will broadcast the bi-monthly meetings, which start at 7 o'clock on the 2nd and 4th Monday of each month. The first live broadcast is Monday, February 24. It is on channel 99 for Comcast and AT&T customers.
A charity event for the Interfaith Hospitality Network saw one of its best years yet. The Elkhart Truth reports that more than 800 people attended the Empty Bowl fundraiser Saturday at the Goshen's Farmers Market. Artists auction off unique bowls, which are then filled with soup at the event. Interfaith Hospitality Network provides temporary housing for homeless people with jobs.
Marshall County Police K9 units will soon be protected by ballistic vests, thanks to a nationwide Groupon charity event. People are asked to contribute $10 through the Groupon Grassroots website. It is open through Wednesday.
