There's a job fair going on at Benteler Automotive. They're looking for skilled toolmakers, equipment technicians, maintenance technicians, machine operators, forklift operators and more. Forge Industrial Staffing is hosting the job fair in two sessions - from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 4 to 7 p.m. Benteler Automotive is located at 910 South Eisenhower Drive.
Residents of South 8th Street in Goshen are under a boil order Monday morning as the city works on relocating a fire hydrant. According to our reporting partners at the Elkhart Truth, as part of the process, crews have shut down a water main between Waverly and College avenues. The boil order will be in effect until 4:30 p.m. while the city tests the new system for bacteria. It's only safe to clean dishes with the water, if your dishwasher has a sanitizing cycle.
Artifacts from 1910 have been found in a property under demolition in Medaryville. According to our reporting partners at WKVI, the property sits next to the old hotel in town and under the floorboards, crews found old Chicago newspapers mentioning plans to build a new ball park for the Chicago White Sox. They also found old letters to the hotel owner, plus 1958 Boston-made beer bottles. Some of the items will be put on display by the Pulaski County Historical Society.
St. Joseph County
The Humane Society is hiring animal control officers. You need a valid driver's license and clean driving record to apply. You also need to be willing to rotate emergency night calls with other officers. Wages are based on education and experience. The Silver Hawks want you to "Pack the Park” on Tuesday and its all in an effort to set an attendance record. Tickets, regular hot dogs, sodas and draft beer will all be $2. It will also be the last Bark in the Park event this season, so bring your pooch. The single season attendance record was set back in 1994. Currently they're only about 22,000 away from that record.
Auditions for the Notre Dame Children's Choir start on Tuesday; they will be held at Good Shepherd Montessori School on East Jefferson Boulevard in South Bend from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. This year the choir is doubling in size by adding a boys’ choir and a girls’ choir for children ages 5 and 6. Participation is free. You don't need to prepare music for the audition and walk-ins are welcome.
Berrien County parks are seeing a better year than last, in terms of revenue. According to our reporting partners at WSJM, it's up 37% so far at some parks and two of the most popular have been South County Park and Silver Beach. Officials credit the mild weather and new activities like disc golf for the success.
There’s a mobile food pantry going on Tuesday in Starke County. It will be held from 10 a.m. to noon eastern at St. Peter Lutheran Church on West Talmer Avenue in North Judson. You should bring a valid ID and boxes or bags to carry your items.
A neat exhibit is currently on display at the Culver-Union Township Public Library. "Dolls around the World" is an international collection from a local resident. It will be on display through September 15.
