Here's a recap of our City By City report from Friday August 22, 2014:
Indiana State Police officers will be conducting a sobriety checkpoint in Elkhart County Friday night. If you happen to pass through it they ask you to have your driver’s license and vehicle registration ready to go to help reduce delays. After the checkpoint, officers will also do roving patrols. Expect this all to begin around 10 p.m.
There's a ribbon cutting celebration going on Friday at Michiana Brewers. The business offers everything you need to make your own beer, wine, even root beer and soda, including the know-how. Michiana Brewers Supply is located at 117 South Michigan Street. The ribbon cutting is at 2 p.m. It will include a root beer toast as well as specials throughout the store.
A grand opening weekend has been scheduled for Swolfies House of Bluz, located at 301 South Michigan St. Area bands will be playing throughout the weekend from Aug. 28-31.
First Unitarian Church will host its two-day ribbon cutting beginning on Sept. 5 at 5 p.m. They’re located at 801 E. Washington St. They purchased the space in 2013 and have remodeled it. The grand opening Sunday service begins at 10:30 a.m. on Sept. 7 with a reception afterward.
Saturday afternoon is all about food and fellowship in Roseland. A "Good Neighbor Picnic" is going on at Roseland Park on West Cripe Street starting at noon. There will be free hot dogs and refreshments, bouncy houses, face painting, raffles and more. This is all sponsored by the town of Roseland and Roseland Rotary Club.
