Here's a recap of our City By City report from Wednesday August 20, 2014:
Goshen's comprehensive city plan is almost finished. The planning commission will release a draft soon, on the city website. According to Goshen News, the plan is titled "Uncommonly Great Goshen 2025" and features the vision of multiple city departments. A public hearing on the draft is scheduled for September 16.
Niles' New Tech High School has been honored nationally. Facilitators of the program recently attended a conference showing off their "Save Water, Save Life" project. According to the Niles Daily Star, the project was named a runner up in the competition and will now be used nationally to train facilitators in how to develop similar projects. Niles New Tech plans to run a similar water conservation project this school year.
The River Bend Quilt Show is coming to the Mishawaka Library. More than 60 quilts will hang from the banisters around the library starting Thursday through Saturday, August 21-23. The library is located at 209 Lincoln Way East. The best part is you get to vote for your favorite quilt.
You can vote for a Michiana man to move on in NBC’s hit show "America's Got Talent". An Elkhart native is among the performers. Mothmen Dance features Elkhart Central grad Jason Whicker. Voting is open until noon on Wednesday; we have a link to the America's Got Talent website on the Big Red Bar. To learn more about Jason from our past story, click here.
