Elkhart two-year-old with 'suspicious injuries' taken into protective custody

On Sunday afternoon, the Elkhart Police Department was sent to the Elkhart General Hospital to investigate a two-year-old boy brought to the emergency room.

The boy was being treated for several different suspicious injuries. He was then transferred to Riley Children’s Hospital in Indianapolis.

The child has been taken into protective custody and remains hospitalized in Indianapolis.

His medical status has been upgraded to stable, as he no longer requires a ventilator and is beginning to respond.

The criminal investigation is still active and on-going. No arrests have been made.
