Charges filed in hit and run case that injured one Indiana state trooper

Two men are now being charged in the hit and run of an Indiana state trooper which sent him to the hospital.

David King, 19, of Gary was the driver of the car and is facing for felony charges including attempted murder.

The passenger, Michael Maldonado, 18, of East Chicago is facing a class D felony charge of possession of a stolen car.

The hit and run happened on the Indiana Toll Road on January 10 at the 25 mile marker near the Portage exit.

Trooper George Hornsby tried throwing stop sticks to stop the car identified in the chase since the 51 mile marker. That is when the vehicle swerved to avoid them and hit Hornsby.

He was transported to a local hospital to have surgery on his leg.
