After months of discussion, the Century Center has a new manager: professional convention and entertainment management firm, SMG.
On April 18, the center’s Board of Managers approved the city of South Bend’s unanimous recommendation to contract with SMG to take over operations of the Century Center. As of July 1, SMG will begin its reign as the latest management.
Goals focus on streamlining customers’ experiences, enhancing marketing and sales, as well as forging local alliances to benefit not only downtown South Bend, but all of St. Joseph County.
With the new management the Century Center will be able to utilize SMG’s internal catering division, SAVOR, and tote SMG’s highly recognizable brand name among convention planners.
SMG was founded in 1977 and has since provided services to more than 230 public assembly facilities like the Century Center. The company provides venue management, sales, marketing, event booking, construction, as well as food and beverage operations.
