New Indiana license plates will celebrate the Hoosier state’s upcoming bicentennial.
Today the new design was unveiled, featuring a blue image of the state’s shape with “200” written across it. Encircling the state are 19 stars to symbolize Indiana’s entry as the 19th state in the nation.
Lieutenant Governor Becky Skillman and former Congressman Lee Hamilton, co-chairmen of the Indiana Bicentennial Commission, introduced the new design as part of the Indiana’s statehood anniversary. They say the new license plate will be available in late December, to help draw attention to the 200th anniversary coming up in 2016.
