It could be a while before we know what caused a massive fire at the old RMG Foundry building. Fire marshals have yet to go inside for safety reasons.
Tuesday morning firefighters were still putting out hot spots after working most of Monday night to put out the blaze.
Wind, an old structure, and several items filled with fuel or propane only helped keep the blaze going, working against firefighters.
The Foundry is located directly behind the Mishawaka Fire Department.
Monday night surrounding departments were called out to help put out the blaze including South Bend.
It's estimated at least two hundred RVs, cars and boats were destroyed by the blaze.
Drew Johnson says he’s lucky that his two boats, RV, and convertible weren’t damaged.
“I was in a section on the north east corner that was blessed by God I guess,” he says.
He was told by the manager of the building that his property was located in the small minority of where most of the damage occurred.
One marina in Mishawaka, Starboard Choice, did have some boats stored at the Foundry. They declined to say how many or whether or not they had insurance.
