Cass Co. wreck leaves three injured

CASS Co., Mich.--- The Cass County Sheriff’s Department responded to an accident that occurred around 2:55 p.m. this afternoon.

The accident occurred on M-60 near White Temple Rd in Penn Township.

A Jeep driven by Delbert Raeder, 49, of Elkhart was going East on M-60 when he was rear ended by a dark colored pickup truck going at a high rate of speed.

The Jeep was pushed off the road, into the front deck of a house, and eventually into a tree.

Both Delbert Raeder, and Carla Moore, 49, of Elkhart, a passenger in the Jeep, were taken by ambulance to Three Rivers Hospital with injuries. Both are in stable condition.

A third passenger, David Raeder, 54, of Elkhart, who was in the back seat, had to be air lifted to Memorial Hospital in South Bend, he is in critical condition.

The dark colored pickup truck sustained front end damage and was leaking fluid; however, the vehicle fled the scene and has not been located yet.

Safety belts were not used by the passengers and alcohol is believed to be a factor.
