A Mishawaka car dealer, who was out of business charged with odometer fraud, is back in business.
Five cars that were seized from Scott's Auto Sales after the odometers were tampered with, are now back on the lot.
Scott's Auto Sales, owned and operated by Adame Scott, 25, is back open.
A month ago the St. Joseph County Sheriff's Department seized five vehicles as evidence of odometer fraud.
Since the original story aired a month ago nearly 30 victims have come forth with stories of being scammed.
One woman said she bought the car thinking it had 80 thousand miles when it actually had 250 some thousand miles.
A customer on Thursday was looking at one of the seized cars was surprised to find out the odometer could have been rolled back.
Lt. Regis Thimons says, “Some have come down and given statements… maybe it was a lemon, or the car broke down broke down almost immediately after buying it.”
The Sheriff's Department will continue to pursue this case with a long list of auto dealership laws they believe were broken, some on a federal level.
