U.S. 20 back open after car and semi collide head-on

LAPORTE COUNTY, Ind. - The driver of a car was airlifted to the hospital, after his vehicle slammed head-on into a semi on U.S. 20 Monday morning. It happened just after 7 a.m. local time, near County Road 300, just west of Rolling Prairie.

The details of how the accident happened are still unclear, but the impact was so dramatic, an entire set of the semi truck's wheels were disconnected.

The driver of the semi was also taken to the hospital, with non-life-threatening injuries. His passenger was not hurt.

All lanes of U.S. 20 was shut down for about an hour as crews cleaned up.
