A Bristol man is behind bars Monday night after police say he crashed his car with a blood alcohol level more than twice the legal limit.
It happened just after ten o'clock Sunday night about two miles west of Bristol’s city limits.
Police say 51-year-old Duante Berry was heading east on County Road 8, just west of County Road 21, when he lost control of his car. The vehicle went off the south side of the roadway into a ditch, and collided with multiple trees. Amazingly, Berry escaped with only a fractured vertebrae.
But he was booked into the Elkhart Jail after he was released from the hospital, after he registered a BAC of .17.
Berry is facing charges of operating while intoxicated.
