Michigan City The boy rescued from an Indiana sand dune almost a year ago will be honored this weekend in Michigan City.
Nathan Woessner, now 7, was rescued from the dune called Mount Baldy in July 2013. He and his family had been visiting the park, when he fell into a sinkhole created by decaying tree roots.
Now Woessner will serve as the grand marshal in Saturday's Summerfest parade. The Northwest Indiana Times reports, he and his family will ride in a special float.
All of the rescuers that helped Woessner survive that fateful day have been invited to the parade.
Meanwhile, Mount Baldy is staying closed until authorities can figure out how to make it safe.
